Required Classroom Attire

Students must adhere to the dress code listed below at all times! Looking and feeling like a dancer is critical to the learning process! Students not dressed properly will not be allowed to dance, and will only be able to sit and observe their lesson! You cannot come in to dance class wearing the clothes you wore to school!!! Hair must be pulled back, neat and clean, and completely off of your face and must stay put for the entire class. Use barrettes, hair nets, bobby pins, lots of gel, and hair spray. In addition, for middle school and high school age dancers, we highly recommend refraining from wearing glasses in class if possible. Remember that your appearance goes a long way in defining you as a dancer!

Purchase dance shoes to dance in now-not to grow into! Ballet slippers and jazz shoes must fit snug, and sizes may be 1 to % sizes smaller than normal street shoes. Dance shoes that are too large make it very difficult for the student to work in and for the instructor to make certain the foot is used properly.

  • Dance tights are designed and manufactured for dance class. They are meant to be worn without underwear! Please no nylon stockings, and absolutely no bare legs – you must have tights on, even if cut short!
  • Dancers should not be wearing any type of jewelry at any time with the exception of small, stud style earrings. Shoes are for dance class only- Please do not wear them outside, as they track dirt and grease into the dance rooms. All warm-ups and loose clothing must be removed once class begins.
  • Dancers will not be allowed to participate in class if they are not dressed properly (this includes clothing, hair, and shoes)

All dance shoes & dance attire may be purchased at Fancy Dancers, which is located at 23517 Nine Mack Drive, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080. Their phone # is (586) 775-4167.
